Partner Karen J. Kepler leads the firm’s Affordable Housing & Tax-Exempt Financing practice. Ms. Kepler has more than 20 years of experience providing a full range of services in the area of affordable housing, multi-family residential and community economic development transactions, including federal and state low-income housing tax credit projects, tax-exempt bond financing, HUD and Fannie Mae financings, and Chapter 40B (Comprehensive Permits).

 

 

Ms. Kepler’s representative clients include:

  • Developer of mixed-use, mixed-income, new construction of 84 housing units, with below-grade parking and ground-floor commercial space at 700 Harrison Avenue in Boston’s South End. Commercial space includes a preschool financed with New Market Tax Credits.
  • Developer of School House Green, an affordable housing development for seniors in Falmouth, Massachusetts.
  • Construction lender involved in numerous affordable housing developments statewide, including Kensington Court at Lakeville Station, first phase of a transit-oriented development in Lakeville, Massachusetts.
  • Bond purchaser in $17 million private placement bond used to fund construction of multi-family housing in Boston’s Chinatown neighborhood.
  • Bond purchaser in private placement bond used to make a “leverage loan” in a New Markets Tax Credit transaction to expand a health center in Lynn, Massachusetts.
  • Bond purchaser in $11 million private placement bond used to fund multi-family housing in Malden, Massachusetts.
  • Developer of Rollins Square, an award winning, multi-family project with affordable rental and ownership units, market-rate ownership units and ground-floor commercial units in Boston.
