William J. Dalton

Founding Partner

Attorney Bill Dalton is a founding partner of the firm, specializing in Residential Real Estate.  Mr. Dalton completed his undergraduate work at the University of New Hampshire and received his Juris Doctor degree from the Massachusetts School of Law.  He worked as a staff attorney for the National Association of Government Employees and the International Brotherhood of Police Officers, negotiating contracts and handling labor/employment disputes.  He has also practiced at two other firms specializing in Real Estate and Corporate Law.  Mr. Dalton is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of New Hampshire.

Barry R. Finegold

Founding and Managing Partner

Attorney Barry Finegold is a founding partner of the firm, specializing in Residential Real Estate and Commercial Real Estate.  He is the Managing Partner of the firm, and concurrently serves as State Senator for 2nd Essex and Middlesex District, Massachusetts.  Previously, State Senator Finegold served as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representative, and as Selectman in the Town of Andover.  Before practicing law, he worked for Mercantile Bank in Boston, Massachusetts, and as a Senior Loan Officer for Accubanc Mortgage in Burlington, Massachusetts.  State Senator Finegold is a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, the Massachusetts School of Law, and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.  He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

David J. Burbridge

Attorney David Burbridge is a partner at the firm specializing in Estate & Special Needs Planning.  Mr. Burbridge provides extensive trust and estate services to help clients preserve their wealth, and to enable them to pass assets to their beneficiaries in the most appropriate and tax-efficient manner.  He is also deeply committed to advising families of individuals with disabilities, working closely with those families seeking governmental services, and in securing those benefits through the use of Supplemental Special Needs Trusts.  Prior to joining Dalton & Finegold, Mr. Burbridge led the Estate Planning department for Clark, Hunt & Embry, the largest law firm in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  Mr. Burbridge is a cum laude graduate of The Tulane University School of Law, and previously earned undergraduate degrees in both Public Communications and Business at Syracuse University.  He is an active speaker in the community on the topics of Estate & Special Needs planning.  Mr. Burbridge is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of New Hampshire, and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Jesse I. Redlener

Attorney Jesse Redlener is a partner at the firm, specializing in Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy.  Mr. Redlener represents businesses seeking to protect their rights against troubled entities, both in and out of court.  He has represented banks, trustees, landlords, secured and unsecured creditors, businesses and individuals in the various stages and chapters of bankruptcy, consumer debtors in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy filings, pre-bankruptcy negotiations and out of court workouts, and businesses debtors in Chapter 7 and 11 filings, out of court wind downs, liquidations and assignments for the benefit of creditors.  Mr. Redlener earned his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and received a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Boston, magna cum laude.  After graduating from law school, he served a two-year appointment as a law clerk for the Honorable Henry J. Philip H. Graeter

Attorney Phil Graeter is a partner at the firm, specializing in Litigation & Dispute Resolution.  Mr. Graeter represents businesses, partnerships, development entities, and individuals in a wide range of disputes, including Residential Real Estate, Commercial Real Estate, Zoning & Land Use, business tort, contract, and fiduciary duty claims, insurance coverage, and professional liability litigation.  He is an experienced trial and appellate advocate and has also represented clients in arbitration and mediation, and before administrative agencies.  Mr. Graeter is a graduate of Boston College Law School and Baylor University.  He practiced in Boston for 10 years before joining Dalton & Finegold, and has been named a Massachusetts Rising Star “Super Lawyer” three times.  Mr. Graeter is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and before the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the First Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

Kenneth E. MacKenzie

Kenneth MacKenzie is a partner at the firm, specializing in Commercial Real Estate, with a focus on Hospitality & Recreation.  He represents lenders, developers, tenants, management companies, and pension and opportunity funds in all aspects of real estate transactional matters. Before joining Dalton & Finegold, he spent 25 years as a member of two of Boston’s largest law firms, most recently as a partner and co-leader of the Goulston & Storrs Hospitality and Recreation Group.  Mr. Mackenzie is a member of the International Society of Hospitality Consultants, part of the Hospitality Industry Advisory Board for New England Real Estate Journal, has been a guest lecturer at the Boston University School of Hospitality Administration and sits on the Development Committee of Nuestra Comunidad Development Corporation (Roxbury/Dorchester Community Development Corporation).  He has been named a Massachusetts “Super Lawyer” and has been awarded the “AV” rating by Martindale. Mr. MacKenzie is an alumnus of Phillips Andover Academy and Dartmouth College.  He received his law degree, magna cum laude, from Boston University School of Law, where he was a Note and Case Editor for the Boston University Law Review and a recipient of the William L. and Lillian Berger Prize for academic excellence. Christine Sullivan Higgins

Attorney Christine Sullivan Higgins is a partner at the firm, specializing in Corporate Law & Commercial Lending.  Ms. Sullivan Higgins represents institutional lenders, borrowers and private equity funds in connection with structuring, documenting and administering syndicated and single bank credit facilities (secured and unsecured) and loan workouts, including asset-based and cash flow facilities and leveraged buyouts and recapitalizations, and mezzanine funds in connection with structuring, documenting and administering subordinated debt facilities.  In addition, she represents individuals and companies in connection with general corporate work, including organization as a corporation, limited liability company or limited partnership.  She specializes in UCC Article 9 law.  Ms. Sullivan Higgins earned her J.D. from Suffolk University and received a B.A. from Boston College.  After graduating from law school, Ms. Sullivan Higgins practiced at Goodwin Procter LLP in Boston for 12 years before joining Dalton and Finegold.  Ms. Higgins is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Jared J. Eigerman

Partner

Attorney Jay Eigerman is a partner at the firm, specializing in Zoning & Land Use law.  Mr. Eigerman represents residential, commercial and institutional real estate developers to secure all necessary government approvals at the federal, state and local levels.  His expertise includes conducting zoning and permitting due diligence, devising and implementing permitting strategies, and writing zoning and permitting opinions for financing.  Mr. Eigerman’s project experience includes development at all scales, ranging from rehabilitation of historic structures to high-density transit-oriented projects, mixed-use proposals on tidelands subject to the public trust, permitting litigation, eminent domain, and inverse condemnation actions.  After graduating from Harvard College, cum laude, in 1992, and the University of California in 1998, with degrees in City Planning (Berkeley) and law (Hastings College of the Law), cum laude, he began his career as a Deputy City Attorney for the City & County of San Francisco.  For 7 years, Mr. Eigerman was an associate and then partner with San Francisco land-use boutique Reuben & Junius LLP, where he remains of counsel.  He was then senior counsel at Goulston & Storrs.  Mr. Eigerman is a member of the American Planning Association and the Urban Land Institute, and is a LEED Accredited Professional for Operations & Maintenance.  His most recent publication is “Trends in Sustainability Regulation,” Hotel Sustainable Development:  Principles and Best Practices, AH&LEI (2011) [hot link here].  Mr. Eigerman is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of California, and before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Karen J. Kepler

Attorney Karen Kepler is a partner at the firm, specializing in  Affordable Housing & Tax-Exempt Financing and Commercial Real Estate.  Ms. Kepler has more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate development and finance, with an emphasis on facilitating public-private partnerships through affordable housing and community economic development projects.  She represents for-profit and non-profit companies, financial institutions and quasi-public agencies in complex mixed-use developments, assisted living projects, HUD and Fannie Mae financed developments, federal and state low income housing tax credit (LIHTC) and tax-exempt bond financed projects, New Markets Tax Credit developments and “Comprehensive Permit” projects under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40B.  Ms. Kepler graduated from Boston University School of Law and received a B.A. in economics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  Before joining Dalton & Finegold, she was a partner at Goulston & Storrs.  Ms. Kepler is a member of the Housing Advisory Board of the Town of Brookline, a trustee and past-president of the Lawyers’ Clearinghouse on Affordable Housing and Homelessness and a past-president of the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts.   She is listed as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer and is ranked as one of the top women lawyers in real estate in the Northeast by Martindale-Hubbell.  Ms. Kepler is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Jessica M. Prince

Head Paralegal Samantha Zerfas specializes in both Residential and Commercial Real Estate transactions.  Ms. Zerfas has worked in the real estate industry for a decade, and has been with Dalton & Finegold for more than half of that time.  Ms. Zerfas earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, summa cum laude, from Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts.

Ms. Graham has been a real estate paralegal for nearly 20 years.  Her previous jobs include working as an escrow officer in Honolulu, Hawaii, and at Chicago Title in Seattle, Washington.  She returned home to the Massachusetts North Shore area to join Dalton & Finegold in 2006.
